PROCEEDINGS. - In the first case, Mildenhall pleaded guilty in the belief that he would receive leniency because of his clean record. In the second case, he defended on the theory that the boys mother fabricated the story when she heard of the guilty plea in the first case, but the jury convicted him. Then a letter surfaced from the foster son in the first case, supposedly consenting to the sexual activity, and Mildenhall moved to withdraw his guilty plea in the first case, but his motion was denied. He appealed from both cases, and the appeals were consolidated.
